Bajia’s Spice Pastes

Packaging and Logo

Start-up food company, Bajia’s, was in need of a logo and packaging to market their curry pastes. Being a small family business, they needed a visual identity that communicated both elegance and approachability, while staying true to their homemade pastes.

The client was looking to incorporate elements of their South Asian culture, such as peacocks and paisleys.

Being a symbol of grace and beauty, a peacock was the perfect subject for Bajia’s logo. Within the logo, paisleys can be found integrated into every facet of the peacock, from the shape of the feathers, body and head, right down to the shape of its eye.

I drew inspiration for the pattern from Indian block printing and embroidered textiles. The color palette is inspired by the color of the spice pastes themselves and was curated to compliment their rich colors.
